AWAJISHIMA GARDEN - FLORA 2000

UMENISHIKI GARDEN
The object of the workshop was to actually build these two herb gardens within the grounds of the Umenishiki Garden and engage the local participants in 'hands on' helping to build and complete the gardens, including planting with herbs.
I had one day of preparation on site with two very helpful Japanese workmen and they worked until late in the evening to get the gardens to a part completed stage ready for the participants to complete.
The day of the Workshop was raining quite hard and the staff of the Umenishiki Garden had erected a canvas covering structure to help to keep us all dry during the Workshop.
I had designed the gardens with the intention of making them simple and straightforward to build.  In fact there were many problems during the day of preparation - but the actual Workshop went exceptionally well and I believe everyone had a good time (including me!)
