THE GLASGOW GARDEN FESTIVAL 1988

The area for this competition was a small circular area that linked the formal garden to the informal garden within the exhibit of the National Trust for Scotland.

The area was to be used by many visitors to the exhibit during the course of the exhibition.

My scheme consisded of a 'spiral' constructed from timber 'rounds' to form the perimeter of the area.

The planting consisted of Calluna vugaris (in variety) - Scottish Ling, together with a sppeciment planting of Onopordum - the Scottish National Emblem.

The pathways were to be formed using natural local Scottish granite slabs with granite gravel for infill areas.

My entry was 'highly commended'.
