PLANTS NOW IN FLOWER IN MY GARDEN

02 JUNE 2008

The garden continues to provide many interesting displays.  The fantastic Echium pininana growing here from a seedling discovered last year. It was not in an ideal position but I decided to let it do it's own thing and this is the result.  The plant reaches the eaves of our two storey house and measures 4.8m in height (16 feet).
Unfortunately the plant is usually monocarpic (flowers once and then dies) however it produces loads of seed and is very easy to germinate.  It also attracts bees and butterflies.
